AI Summary is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your audio recordings and transcriptions are yours alone. This privacy policy explains our commitment to protecting your privacy and how we handle your data.

The Simple Version

We do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal data, audio recordings, or transcriptions. Your data stays on your device or is processed temporarily through your chosen service providers. We cannot see, access, or retrieve any of your content.

How Your Data is Processed

Local Processing Mode

When using local processing (Whisper/MLX):

  • All audio processing occurs entirely on your device
  • No data leaves your iPhone
  • No internet connection is required
  • Your audio and transcriptions are stored only in your device’s local storage
  • We have zero access to your data

Cloud Processing Mode

When you choose cloud processing (OpenAI, Groq, Anthropic):

  • Audio is sent directly from your device to your selected provider
  • We do not route data through our servers
  • We do not store any data on intermediate servers
  • Processing is performed by the third-party service you selected
  • Results are returned directly to your device
  • Third-party providers process data according to their privacy policies:

Hybrid Mode

  • Transcription occurs locally on your device
  • Only the text transcript is sent to cloud providers for summarization
  • Audio never leaves your device in hybrid mode

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

  • Audio recordings remain in your Files app or recording location
  • Transcriptions are saved to your device’s local database
  • Summaries are stored alongside transcriptions
  • You can delete any data at any time through the app
  • Deleting the app removes all associated data

Third-Party Services

API Keys

  • You provide your own API keys for cloud services
  • API keys are stored securely in your device’s keychain
  • We never have access to your API keys
  • You can remove API keys at any time

Cloud Provider Data Handling

When using cloud providers:

  • Data is transmitted using encrypted HTTPS connections
  • Providers process data according to their terms of service
  • We recommend reviewing each provider’s privacy policy
  • You maintain full control over which providers to use

Children’s Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is designed for general use and does not target children.

No Tracking or Analytics

We do not use:

  • Analytics services
  • Crash reporting that includes personal data

Since we don’t collect or store data, there are no international data transfers by our app. Any cloud processing follows the policies of your chosen providers.

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Updates will be posted at this URL and the “Effective Date” will be updated. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

No Data Sharing

We do not:
